Red + U2
Collaborating with IDEO, the Red foundation and U2's Bono set out to reinvent the music album—a tall challenge.
Background
Bono, lead singer of the Irish rock band U2, launched Red in 2006 to raise awareness and eliminate AIDS in Africa. Now he was looking for a new way to launch a music download service and a fresh concept for the way we experience music.
Our Solution
We went beyond the brief to create an online tool where users could experience music, videos, photography and a collection of other resources connected with the making of an album.
Leveraging the way people interact today, the social media experience we created allowed users to interact and discuss fan-inspired art and the interpretation of song lyrics. Users connect with family, friends, or just other fans around the globe.
The tools also gave users a unique way to see their donations at work and the collective impact of their social network on HIV in Africa.
