Coming Soon: Kontent Extensions
13 June 2011
Kontent Design has been around the Joomla world since its inception and we're enthusiastic supporters of anything Joomla related. Over the years, we've built lots of great Joomla sites and extensions for our clients, but we haven't been able to share most of those with the community until recently. So that led us to develop our own line of extensions called Kontent Extensions.
We released KontentBox™ (aka RonBox) in 2008 and it quickly became a very popular (and free!) way to display all your site media in a slick lightbox. Before that, there wasn't a solution that handled both images and media (video, Flash, audio, etc.) all in one. You had to choose one or the other—and the available solutions were meager. A few months ago, a new version of KontentBox was released for the latest version of MooTools in Joomla and also with support for Joomla 1.6.
KontentTweet™ followed by giving users an easy way to integrate Twitter with their website by displaying tweets. It also gives you the option to show the tweets of people you follow and a few other customization options like showing avatars and dates. It's free and only takes a few minutes to make a website Twitter-friendly.
Our newest product is Handout™, the ultimate document manager for Joomla. Handout has all the features you're familiar with, but has added a few new ones, including download codes, cloud integration, SEO/SEF improvements, and one-click migration from other document managers. Handout will also be compatible with Joomla 1.6 and 1.7. We're ready to shake up the document management world with this extension.
Ever since we worked with Adam Curry (the "Godfather of Podcasting") and Ron Bloom in the early days of podcasting, we've wanted to come up with a great way for anyone to broadcast content on-demand. So we're delving into the world of podcasts with Podcast Professional™, the most professional solution for managing and distributing podcasts. Podcast Professional gives you a powerful new Episode Manager that automatically corrects common errors, gives you fine control over your episode metadata, and you can even use video material in your podcasts. If you're a fan of Feedburner, integration for it and our popular KontentBox extension are built right in. iTunes loves the bulletproof feeds and a podcasting guide is built into the extension for those just getting started. Like Handout, we're ready to shake up the podcasting world with this extension.
As each Joomla template framework has been released by third-party developers over the last year or so, we've asked ourselves, "Oh no...another Joomla template framework?" That's exactly what we were thinking when we came up with the idea to create our own. Karpenter™ is based on the simple, yet powerful, Atomic template in Joomla 1.6 and we decided to make the ultimate framework for any developer/designer. Do you prefer jQuery over MooTools? No problem. Do you want HTML5 and CSS3 with fallbacks for older browsers? You got it. Need a mobile interface, tabs, a slideshow, lazy image loading, cool dropdowns, Modernizer and other great open source libraries? They're all built into this free framework and configurable via the template parameters. Add only what you need and keep your template slim and fast. Karpenter promises to be the ultimate in template flexibility with all the cutting-edge options.
There are a number of other exciting extensions that aren't listed above. So when will all these great extensions be available? We're planning a launch date of July 1 so check the Kontent Extensions website then.
