Kontent Design Brings Open Source to eBay

eBay

In March 2010, Kontent Design was enagaged by online auction giant eBay to create a custom intranet solution for their analytics platform. As the leading experts in Joomla, Creative Director Ron Severdia and the Kontent Design team went to work on understanding eBay's goals and their user's needs. The result was the Harmony platform for community analytics. Harmony, true to its name, brings together a variety of disparate systems (including the largest commercial database warehouse in the world—100 times larger than the Library of Congress) and uses social networking features to engage eBay's 16,400+ employees in collaboration, discussion, and content sharing.

eBay further affirmed their commitment to the project and Joomla by signing the Joomla Contributor Agreement, an important first step to contributing code to the Joomla Project under the open source GPL license. eBay will make regular contributions of the innovations developed for the Harmony project back to the community.
